In the last 9 months, many of us have spent more time on video than ever before, both personally and professionally. From Zoom calls with staff and important prospect meetings, to creating stand-out sales and marketing content, we can’t seem to get away from the camera these days. And let’s not even start with virtual birthdays, happy hours, and holidays…
We’ve been having a lot of conversations recently with Vendors, Channel Partners and salespeople about the reluctance to create video content unless it’s professionally produced.
But we’re here to tell you that videos (like the one below) don’t have to be expensive, difficult, or time-consuming to make. The first step is to learn how to achieve good lighting and camera positioning when recording videos on your own.
Here are some very simple things you can do YOURSELF to take your videos to the next level in no time:
- Position yourself directly in front of your lighting source. Natural light is great, but avoid overhead light and direct sunlight, and be mindful of shadows.
- Ensure your camera (phone or webcam) is stable and at eyeline. This will help you avoid that up-the-nose shot that we’ve seen way too much recently.
- KEEP IT SHORT! Spare your digitally-fatigued audience by keeping videos under 5 minutes in length. In fact, 2-3 minutes is plenty!
